Alaska
Alaska, the largest state in
the union, is also very big on fun. It is a place where travel dreams
can come true in a hundred different ways. Alaska is a pristine place
where ten minutes out of metropolitan areas such as Anchorage and
Fairbanks, the wilderness rolls on as far as the eye can see.
Unspoiled, unpeopled, unadorned with billboards, fast food chains, or
traffic. Princess knows the peace of this land better than anyone.
Denali National Park
So awed were the Athabascan
Indians by the enormity of Mt. McKinley, they simply revered it as
Denali…the “Great One”. Its first description to the “outside” world
was submitted to the New York Times in 1897 by prospector-author William
Dickey, who wrote, “never before had we seen anything to compare with
this mountain.” Nor will you. There are higher mountains in the world,
but none rise so monumentally as McKinley – from a valley only 1,000
feet above sea level to an altitude of 20,320 feet.
The Glacier Cruise
On with Princess, beyond
College Fjord, through Icy Strait, and suddenly your world perspective
will change. Because now you’ll mostly be looking up – at perpetually
snow-capped mountains that rise 15,000 feet seemingly straight up from
the shoreline, at glaciers looming large over iceberg-strewn bays,
pushing their faces into tidewater. Marvel at the wonder of it all…on a
Princess 7-night Glacier Discovery Cruise between Whittier, Alaska, and
Vancouver, British Columbia.
Janetta and Lloyd Douglas
will host the July 2007 Cruisetour of Alaska. Our tour hosts have
escorted seven previous Alaskan Cruisetour vacations and want you to
join them to experience the beauty of Alaska for yourself. Escorts
based on minimum number of passengers.
